We’re excited to share that the Grampians Peaks Trail 100 Miler (GPT100) has officially been inducted into the prestigious World Trail Majors (WTM) series for 2025 and beyond! This achievement places GPT100 among some of the most iconic ultramarathon races in the world, including events in Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, the U.S.A, and Europe.
Starting from November 6 to November 9, 2025, trail runners will face the 162km journey across the rugged Grampians/Gariwerd National Park in Victoria, Australia, with a jaw-dropping 7,700m elevation gain. Originally built as a 13-day hiking trail with 12 campsites, the course demands that runners complete the entire stretch in 53 hours, making it one of the most challenging trail races in the world.
Why Is This Such a Big Deal?
The World Trail Majors (WTM) is a global ultramarathon series celebrating some of the toughest and most scenic races on Earth. Inclusion in this series highlights GPT100's unique blend of brutal climbs, technical ridgelines, and breathtaking views of Australia's volcanic rock formations—all while showcasing the best of the local community, including Halls Gap and Dunkeld.
The Grampians Peaks Trail 100 Miler will now stand alongside world-class races such as the Hong Kong 100 Ultramarathon, Madeira Island Ultra-Trail (MIUT), Black Canyon Ultras, and Transgrancanaria. This recognition cements GPT100 as a must-run race for endurance athletes seeking the ultimate trail running adventure.

Looking Back at GPT100 2024: A Race to Remember
This announcement comes on the heels of an unforgettable GPT100 2024 race earlier this month. The event saw record-breaking participation and attracted international elite runners, including Hong Kong’s Stone Tsang from The North Face team and Ryan Blair from Asia Pacific Adventure (APA). It was their first time running in Australia, and they were awestruck by the Grampians’ rugged landscapes and encounters with kangaroos.
The race wasn't just about competition—it was about endurance in the face of extreme conditions. While Endu1 athlete Jordan Murphy battled through 50km before severe dehydration forced him to withdraw, others like Lucy Bartholomew showed true world-class resilience, finishing second overall and first in the women’s category.
This year’s race flipped the weather script from last year’s thunderstorms to a scorching heatwave, with temperatures hitting nearly 40°C at the starting line. The heat radiating off the Grampians’ volcanic rocks turned the race into a grueling sauna-like challenge, testing even the most prepared athletes.
We were particularly inspired by the Beyond Endurance team, led by Mick Marshall, the race’s first adaptive athlete. Their incredible determination to push beyond limits and finish the 100-mile stage race was nothing short of awe-inspiring.
Looking Ahead: The Journey Continues
With the next chapter of GPT100 secured in the World Trail Majors series, we can’t wait to see more trail-running legends take on this epic adventure. Registration opens on January 21, 2025, at 9 am AEST, so get ready to face the wild, test your limits, and create unforgettable memories on one of the world’s toughest trails.
Congratulations, GPT100! We’re proud to have supported this iconic event and can’t wait to fuel even more runners in the coming years. 💪🔥🏞️
